One of my goals for 2017 is to read more. I’m in luck, because it seems like so many creative, interesting books are hitting the shelves right now!
Winter always seems to zap my creativity. So, I decided to invest in a couple of floral photography books.
First up is Paris in Bloom, by Georgianna Lane. I became a fan of hers a few years back when I saw her photography in an Artful Blogging issue. This book is eye candy times 10. I love the different sections in the book and it seriously makes me want to take a trip to Paris in the spring!
The next book I pre-ordered was A Colorful Way of Living by Barbara Bradley Baekgaard. Anyone who knows anything about me knows what a huge Vera Bradley fan I have been for the past decade or longer. I met her once in person, and I couldn’t wait to read more about her life and how Vera Bradley began. I recommend this book because it is so positive and uplifting. It makes you feel like you can take on the world after reading a few chapters! Plus, it has some of my fave Vera Bradley prints scattered throughout! A colorful, easy to read book, indeed!
I have been trying to get myself back into the botanical photography groove with spring having just arrived. I went back to research some famous, classic botanical photographers and came across Imogen Cunningham. I fell in love with her floral photos immediately! I ordered this book from Amazon. It’s called Flora, and it’s from 2001. It not only has gorgeous photos from the early 20th century, there’s a section that gives details about the flowers themselves. It’s a great, favorite new resource.
I also received a signed print with my Paris in Bloom pre-order. It’s hanging in my office right now! 🙂
I hope if you’re looking for a few new books that you consider these. I love all three and can’t wait to find some more new favorites to add to my reading list!
What are you reading these days?
